In its recent report Karelian newsportal has stated that:
”Ladoga master” shoots the tourists at Karelian lake.
"The incident took place on Saturday 15, 2015. At approximately 8:00 PM a man in the boat started shooting at people on the beach while also cursing in foul language and shouting “Ladoga is mine!”
At that time there were many women and kids on the beach whom the man scared to death. Tourists from St. Petersburg managed to get close to the armed man who reacted by pressing the armed gun against the stomach of one of the tourists.
Fortunately no one was hurt and the tragedy was avoided, as was stated in social media public page “Lahdenpohja navsegda” (Lahdenpohja forever). The man was disarmed of his rifle; he himself was securely tied and delivered to the recreation facility from where the police was called. The arrested “rifleman” appeared to be a citizen of Sortavala, born in 1954 and completely drunk."
Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
A truly stellar death/doom album with heavy doses of black metal. Tracks like Isolation, Child of Light, and Broken Hymns deliver the sorrowful and icy tone of this album, elevated by the stirring cello compositions of Raphael Weinroth-Browne. The album delivers a deeply satisfying crescendo in Becoming Intangible before stirring the soul once again with Epilogue. Matt Richardson
The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74
Shoegaze, post-rock, black metal, dark ambient: if it's gloomy and surreal, you'll find it on the Arizona outfit's excellent second LP. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 14, 2022
The perfect blend of naive enthusiasm and unfiltered rock 'n' roll danger, leading to an explosive, raw sound. Volcanic, pure, and crushing. Bandcamp New & Notable May 30, 2017
